The Old And The New Are The Best

old couple
Take a close look at this image. It is absolutely beautiful. It shows the story of two people who fell in love, and whose love stood the test of time (well, that's what it says to me).

I've come to the conclusion that very old people and very young people are better than the rest of us. Kids are generally too young to be filled with dark baggage and spend most of their time learning and having fun. Old people have mellowed out, have endured and won battles over the tumults of life and are full of wisdom. I've concluded that I'd rather be in one of the two groups. I envy those couples that stay together until they are wrinkled and old, still holding hands. Sometimes they look at each other with such love and acceptance. It makes me almost cry to see it (this is the testimony of people like Johnny Cash and his wife that I referenced back here). I had hoped that would be the outcome of my life. I don't fear aging. I'm seeing signs already. All this stress is giving me a head full of white hairs. It doesn't bother me. One step closer to the day I see Jesus Christ my Lord! One step closer to being made more like Him through the trials of life.

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:17,18

Believe it or not 2 Corinthians 3:18 was a memory verse from high school math class of all things. Yup, Mr. Zimmerman compiled a list of verses that we were encouraged to memorize. I wonder if I still have that piece of paper with the printed verses somewhere... Consequently, I remember some of them still - though I'm not so sure it helped me in math.

I had not noticed verse 17 before. It is an awesome verse. In fact, I might say this is God's verse to me - the one to describe the work He has miraculously done and will continue to do in me! I am overjoyed to read it. Indeed, I wish to boldly shout and share the Good News...

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty!

Readers, please make the connection between this verse and what is said around Luke 11:13. I know you want to be free (if you are not already). All you have to do is ask and believe. Your Father is waiting to pour out this Gift upon you. Ask earnestly and don't give up.

Let me share again this bold testimony of the Light: The Spirit of the Living God is falling on me, and there is nothing I can do about it! He is making all things new! I ask again for more of the Spirit of God to dwell in me richly. I want to be obedient and to be more like Jesus. Lord, pour out Your Spirit on all people! Show your mercy and greatness of heart! You are Truth, You are Love, You are Light! Break the power of darkness in this world! Oh my God, accomplish it. Even use Your servants to fight the forces of evil. Set the captives free from bondage. I long to dwell in Your house. Make me the lowest of servants, just that I can be near You as much as possible. I don't need a title or honor. I just want to see Your face and have You hold me close. You are my Great Love. You are my Salvation. Forgive my horrid lack of faith.
