Cactus in Bloom

A year or so ago (don't actually remember the time - random guess) we spotted a large potted cactus along the curb in our neighborhood with a free sign. We decided to take it home. Its size is quite impressive, and each year it seems to grow new arms, in spite of not receiving perhaps the most caring attention. There is a certain time of year when it blooms with bright yellow flowers. I guess that time is now. I think there are more blooms this year than last. Though I didn't take a picture of it at its height, I think there were 7 to 10 blooms at the same time.

The fate of the plants, including the cactus, is uncertain. I'm not much of a green thumb gardening person myself.
