Tomato Season Makes Me Happy
It's around that time of year when all those who have invested time in planting a home garden yield a harvest. About the only thing I care about that whole deal is all the opportunities availed to grab a tomato or six. My parents typically plant several tomato types, and I've been privileged to receive a few of theirs. A few people at work have brought in their homebrew selections as well. Tuesday morning I was graced with a yellow variety that my boss brought in. I used half of it to make a tomato, melted cheese and pepper sandwich for lunch today. Oh man, that's good!
Since the general consensus nowadays is that a tomato is correctly categorized as a fruit as opposed to a vegetable, I can quite easily say the tomato is my favorite fruit. Nothing beats a perfectly ripe home grown tomato (not sure, but I think my favorite is probably the beefsteak - because it's so big and juicy). This one pictured here is the one from my boss. No, it's not unripe. It's a yellow one - not sure what exact nomenclature to label it with. I dub it "blue-green tooth fly with vertical limitations of equine variations and crib double-duck spider whip alongside jelly cistern spigot galleries".
