Here is my first attempt at Japanese comic style drawing, otherwise known as Manga. This sketch was drawn step-by-step, following the instructions found in a book, Manga Mania (2001, Christopher Hart). I drew this boy head just to get a feel for some of the aspects that differentiate the manga style from traditional cartoon styles or my own style at the time. While the outline was mostly a mirror of the book's method, the sketchy shading and line thickness/quality are a product of my own design. Immediately following the completion of this few minute sketch I started my first Manga project with a purpose, Manga Deny.
