I'm an Undeserving Gentile
"If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?" When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, "Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life."
Acts 10:17-18 ESV
Do you ever take for granted that you have direct access to the Father, Lord and God above all? I've recently been struck whenever I read passages that speak of the Good News to the Gentiles. Let us not forget that originally, the Jews alone were set apart to be God's people. Not only that, but salvation through Christ was first revealed to the Jews as well. The early church was not immediately aware that Jesus sacrifice was for all peoples. Then the Spirit revealed the order of things. Praise God for His incredible mercy, extended to us.
Sometimes in our pride we think in the western world that we are the source of salvation to all. We send out missionaries and write our systematic theology books. How arrogant. There is a reason everything started in Israel. I have no idea what God's eternal plans are, but I don't want to forget the significance of the grace extended to me. Praise God that we too can become children of Abraham, children of the promise - even though we are born of different blood. Glorify God that Jesus Christ made one man out of the two, reconnecting the broken lineage of Adam, the son of God!
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
Psalm 32:1-2 ESV
