Jugglisk III
This evening I went to the park again to juggle. I had everything needed for success except perhaps the focus and stamina of my youth. I brought an ice cold water bottle, a Powerade and some animal crackers. I think I was really on today. If I had more energy and youthful verve, I probably would have broken my personal record of 3085 hits.
Kicking was precise and I had the ball very much under control. In fact, I don't remember having this level of control even when I was in better shape. This is one "sport" where distance makes the heart grow fonder. In other words, I tend to get better even after long absences from practicing. The key is to relax. Don't push it too hard, don't force the issue. If the ball isn't cooperating, don't get upset or overcompensate, just go with the flow. Allow yourself to fail, take a break, shake out the jitters and start again.
I once again achieved my per outing goal of 1000 hits - twice. First I got 1267 hits, then 1431. I am very pleased. Usually, by the time I'm counting in the thousands, I have lost control of the ball a couple times and have to dance to get it back. Today, I didn't lose control, I simply didn't have the energy. I feel my record is indeed within grasp.
