For the most part, the snow was dry and powdery. Driving was not entirely treacherous, though the news reported spin outs all over the city. Portland simply doesn't get enough snow for people to be practiced and able to use common sense. Not saying that I'm much of an expert. I'm just as helpless as the next guy... though I know a few common sense physics concepts to help get me going most of the time.
