We live in an L-shaped duplex that has a covered common area in the front. There is a section that is open to the sky above, interrupted by just a few ceiling joist spans (or whatever you call them). A tree grows up and through this opening. I was sitting on the couch, observing this scene this morning before going to the zoo and couldn't resist taking a picture. I like how there are at least four distinct depths and composition creators: 1) The black joists, 2) the mostly green tree, 3) the second, yellow tree behind, and 4) the blue sky. The shapes and angles also interact in an appealing fashion.
