The first step to creating a digital composition with many elements is to create some sort of planning document(s). In the case of this project, I drew a very crude sketch. This sketch gave me a visual picture of the various elements I needed in order to create the scene. Obviously the sketch is simply a preliminary aid, and the final project will not always include every element shown.
Using this horrible drawing, I formed a mental list of the elements necessary to complete the composition. If it is determined that some of the necessary elements are impossible to create due to lack of technology, resources or time, they may be left out. A basic list of the desired elements for this particular composition might be written as follows:
- store-like environment
- several shelves shown at different angles, full of Art Advantage canvases
- at least one shopper
- shopping cart full of canvases
- hanging store sale signs
- canvases flying behind the shopper as he runs down the aisles frantically.
Now to figure out how I can create each of these elements...
