Here is perhaps the quickest way to remove the excess bar. Using the Polygonal or Freehand selection tool, select the area of the bar that does not overlap with the subject's legs. To erase the selected material, press Delete or choose Clear from the Edit menu. When using the Polygonal or Freehand selection tools, make sure that "Anti-aliased" is enabled so the edge pixels of the selection are smooth, instead of boxy and hard.
